In 1975 when NTA went on the their first response to a motor vehicle crash that required extrication of the patient from the wrecked vehicle, there was nobody to call to assist. None of the local Fire Departments at that time had any extrication tools. With that first initial call in 1975, due to some quick thinking of the crew and the tow truck driver, which had arrived on scene, they were able to extricate and transport the patient. Of course this presented a major problem and shortly afterwards NTA purchased some of their own extrication tools and the start of the NTA Rescue aspect was started. Today it has come a long way from a few extra tools carried aboard the ambulance. The NTA crew strive to train extensively to be able to meet the need of any rescue situation. NTA has dedicated funds each year to purchase and maintain quality rescue equipment and to further that training.
